The first pressure washers came to Germany from the USA through the US army. Alfred Kärcher waited and repaired these devices and in 1950 he developed the first European-built high-pressure cleaners.  This first hot water pressure washer proved so innovative that it is still the basis for all manufactured burners. For high-pressure cleaners commonly used today in the home, tap water is fed through the pipe of a high-pressure pump. This then produces a water jet of up to 160 bars. The water comes out as a sharp, focused beam through the high-pressure nozzle. This efficient compression means a pressure washer at 145 bars uses only 500 litres of water per hour, whereas a normal garden hose consumes approximately 3,500 litres of water per hour. A high-pressure cleaner is ideal for cleaning various surfaces, objects and machines. With several applications, it is truly an all-round talent. Alone for cleaning purposes, the potential applications for pressure washers are never-ending.  For example, they are suitable for the debarking of trees. Some models are equipped with an internal combustion engine so they can be used in the woods and in fields without electricity. Hot water high-pressure cleaners are an excellent solution, for example, for the cleaning of stables. With hot water high-pressure cleaners, the water is first compressed and then heated. The hot water cleans efficiently and saves cleaning product.
