Case IH Agriculture Case IH is a premium brand for professional agricultural machinery. Case IH has more than 160 years of experience in the development and sales of Tractors, Combine Harvesters and Balers. After Jerome Increase Case founded the "J.I. Case Corporation" in 1842, the Case Company produced the first steam engine for agriculture about 20 years later. Although the tractor was equipped with wheels, it was still pulled by horses. Five years after Case was founded, the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company was formed in 1947, which later became International Harvester. When the McCormick production plant in Chicago was destroyed by a fire, Case began manufacturing machines for McCormick in 1871. In 1985, the agricultural machinery manufacturers McCormick and J.I. Case Corporation merged under the name "Case IH" and, with a 35% market share, occupied the position of the second largest agricultural machinery manufacturer in the USA, behind John Deere. The advantages of the merger were that Case IH could now offer a wider range of products and have access to a wider dealer network. Just one year later, Steiger, a manufacturer of articulated tractors, was also incorporated into Case IH. The typical red-black colour of the machines was introduced in 1986.

While products were previously developed separately by International Harvester and Case, in 1988 the first jointly designed tractor, the Case IH Magnum was introduced. In 2003, the 100,000th Magnum came off the assembly line, and in 2012 Case IH celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Magnum series. From 1985 to 1996 the popular Case IH 1455 XL was produced in Neuss am Rhein. In 1996, Case IH expanded its product range by taking over Conord Inc, the Australian manufacturer Austoft, and the Austrian company Steyr. Since 1999, Case IH has been an independent brand of CNH Global, which was created through a merger of Case IH and >New Holland under the umbrella of the Fiat Group. Under the name Case CE, Case IH successfully distributes construction machinery. Case IH's current product range extends from the "Quantum" small tractor to the medium-sized Puma models and the Magnum large tractors. Articulated trucks with wheel or crawler tracks, harvesters, feeding technology and telescopic handlers are also part of the product portfolio. The name Case IH is synonymous worldwide for first-class agricultural engineering and the best technologies in the agricultural sector.
